Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

Deep tissue massage therapy targets the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue to relieve chronic tension, reduce pain, and improve mobility. Using firm pressure and slow strokes, this modality breaks down adhesions and promotes better circulation, aiding in recovery from injuries or overuse. Ideal for those with muscle tightness, postural strain, or repetitive stress.

What to Expect

  • Deep tissue massage therapy utilizes more intense pressure and deliberately slower strokes than a relaxation massage (e.g. Swedish massage therapy).

  • Possible mild soreness after treatment (similar to post-workout feelings) - This is a normal part of the body's healing process. The soreness typically subsides within two to three days and better mobility and reduced tension will follow.

  • Increased flexibility, reduced pain, and a greater sense of ease in movement over time

Who Can Benefit

  • Those with chronic muscle tension, stiffness, or postural imbalances

  • Individuals recovering from workouts or injuries

  • People with repetitive strain injuries

Considerations & Contraindicatinos

At Petrissage Remedy, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. While deep tissue massage therapy is highly effective and can benefit a wide range of individuals, it may not be suitable for everyone. To ensure the best possible experience, we ask that you review the considerations and contraindications below before booking your session.

  • Fever, Acute Illness or Injuries

  • Contagious or Infectious Conditions

  • Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) or Blood Clots - Deep pressure can dislodge a clot, leading to life-threatening complications like pulmonary embolism.

  • Severe Osteoporosis or Bone Disorders - Deep pressure can increase the risk of fractures in fragile bones.

  • Advanced Osteoarthritis - Deep pressure can worsen joint pain especially during flared-up phases.

  • Cancer (Active or Untreated) - Requires medical clearance prior to receiving deep tissue massage therapy. Deep pressure can exacerbate nerve pain or cause further damage.

  • Organ Failure or Severe Cardiovascular Conditions - Deep pressure can overburden already compromised systems.

  • Recent Heart Attach or Stroke - Requires medical clearance prior to deep tissue massage therapy

  • Pregnancy (First Trimester or high-risk) - Opt for prenatal massage therapy instead.

  • Blood Disorders or Bleeding Disorders Such as Hemophilia or Thrombocytopenia
